    Postal Service to host job fair in Summerville

    SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – Rural mail carriers are needed in Summerville and Ridgeville. The United States Postal Service will hold a special one-day job fair at the Dorchester County Library to help fill those positions.

    Data from the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce show roughly 2,778 people are searching for jobs in Dorchester County with an unemployment rate of 3.2%.

    Jobs with the post office – Summerville and Ridgeville locations – include rural carrier associates and assistant rural carriers. It comes with competitive compensation packages, on-the-job training, and advancement opportunities.

    “By joining the Postal Service, you will reap the benefits that a career with the Postal Service has to offer, including health and retirement benefits, good pay, stable employment, training, and the ability for career advancement throughout the organization,” USPS said.

    The job fair will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Dorchester County Library (76 Old Trolley Road).

    USPS personnel will be on-site to provide detailed information about the positions and answer questions from job seekers.

    They said applications will be accepted online only at www.usps.com/careers . Applicants must be 18 and older with a valid South Carolina driver’s license, and they will need to use their personal vehicle and be able to pass drug screening and a criminal background check.
