Colorado House Speaker Julie McCluskie and state Sen. Dylan Roberts will join the Summit Board of County Commissioners for an open forum on Thursday, July 18. The event is part of the regular “Coffee with the Commissioners” forum series that allows area constituents to pose questions and provide comments to elected officials. The hour-long event will begin at 11 a.m. in the Mount Royal room of the County Commons building in Frisco, located at 37 Peak One Drive.
Nevada man arrested for felony menacing after brandishing gun-shaped lighter at another driver on I-70 in Summit County
A Nevada man was arrested Sunday, July 14, after law enforcement officials say he brandished a gun-shaped lighter during a road rage incident on Interstate 70. On around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a road rage incident near mile marker 209 on I-70 where a driver reportedly brandished what appeared to be a gun at another motorist, according to a Summit County Sheriff’s Office release on Tuesday, July 16.

Summit County is considering changing leash laws for dogs in unincorporated Summit County due to an increase in people not following the current laws. Summit County Sheriff’s Office seeks volunteers for full-scale active shooter training
The Summit County Sheriff’s Office will conduct a full-scale active shooter training exercise on Aug. 7. The exercise will take place at various locations between Frisco and Breckenridge, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office. It is a collaborative exercise involving law enforcement, local firefighting crews, EMS first responders, the Summit School District, Colorado Mountain College, St. Anthony Summit Hospital as well as community stakeholders and numerous state and federal agencies.
