Multiple suspects arrested, including 2 teens, in connection to Saturday assault in Green
Multiple suspects were arrested this past weekend in connection to an assault in the city of Green, according to the Summit County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff deputies responded to reports of a fight on Arlington Ridge at about 7 p.m. on July 13. When deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered a 25-year-old male with injuries. Witnesses told deputies multiple suspects wearing masks got out of different vehicles and attacked the victim. The suspects later fled the scene.

Summit County man arrested after standoff involving neighborhood gunfire, police say
CLEVELAND, Ohio – A Summit County man was arrested Sunday after he fired a gunshot into his neighbor’s home, police said. Shannon D. Karr, 44, of Barberton is accused of improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation. Barberton police responded at 6:40 p.m. to 2 Street SW and Palmer Avenue for reports that a man had fired a gun into his neighbor’s home.
Cuyahoga Falls man accused of murdering wife dies during jail stay
A Cuyahoga Falls man who was accused of murdering his wife in February died by suicide last month, according to Gary Guenther of the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office. James Rimal, the husband of Chandra Maya Poudel-Rimal, was found hanging in his cell at the Summit County Jail on June 9, Guenther said. He was transported to Akron City Hospital, where he died just after midnight June 10.

This year's Touch-A-Truck in Hudson is Saturday, July 27, between the McDowell and East Woods Schools on 120 N. Hayden Parkway. Akron man receives life sentence for 2010 rape in Barberton
AKRON, Ohio — An Akron man currently in prison was sentenced to life Friday after he was convicted of the 2010 rape of a woman in Barberton. Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Alison McCarty also designated Derrick Fischer, 53, a Tier III sex offender, according to county Prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich. McCarty also found Fischer guilty of a sexually violent predator specification, which allowed McCarty to increase the sentence for each count to 10-years-to-life.
Akron receives $51 million for polymer tech hub
GREATER AKRON — The Polymer Industry Cluster, a collaboration of private and public partners focused on innovation and investment opportunities for the region’s legacy materials industry powered by the Greater Akron Chamber (GAC), has been named the recipient of a $51 million federal investment as part of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) Tech Hubs Phase 2 awards. The Polymer Industry Cluster is one of 12 award recipients nationally. The funds will be used to advance a hub of innovation, growth and investment for the United States focused on sustainable polymers and will create differentiated strategic advantage in sustainable polymers for the U.S. and jobs, growth and investment for the region.
