SUMMIT, NJ -- As the Summit Boys Lacrosse team entered its spring season, the Hilltoppers knew they had plenty to live up to given their previous season.

After all, the team had a tremendous year in winning multiple championships. Plus, with key players graduating, expectations for the new year could have been reasonably lowered as a younger group took the reins.

But the incredible results from last year didn’t stop Head Coach Jim Davidson from setting lofty goals for this year’s team, saying before the season began, “Our top goals are to compete for the conference, county and state titles. We have a young team that will continue to improve throughout the year. We will have to get better each week for us to compete in the county and state playoffs.”

Those goals may have seemed a bit too high as Summit came out of the gates losing two of their first five games.

Things changed dramatically from that point on, however, as the Hilltoppers were to go on an amazing run to close out the season.

For Summit, it was an historic year in winning the Kirst Cup title, a Group 2 title, a county crown, and rattling off 18 straight wins to finish the year with a 21-2 record.

“It was a season to remember,” Davidson said. “The team’s hard work and dedication contributed to a great year. The players’ ability to play together and improve each week were the keys to a successful season,” the coach said.

Summit achieved a wide array of honors this magical year, including:
