City approves change orders for Trojan Village and Public Works Building
The Madison City Commission approved three change orders at their meeting on Monday. The first change was for the Trojan Village Street Construction and Extension of Washington Avenue and Division Avenue. The existing subgrade was found to be soft and in need of stabilization. Aggregate thickness will be increased from 8” to 12” thick except at the intersection of Washington Avenue where it will be 16” thick.

Tense Moments for Paullina Thursday
A large law enforcement presence went to Paullina Thursday Morning. Shortly before 10 am, O’Brien County officials received a call from an individual claiming to have shot another person and said they would commit further acts of violence against other individuals and law enforcement. Law enforcement responded to the 4500 block of Red Wood Ave., northeast of Paullina. Precautions were made for nearby homes and businesses, and Mill Creek campground was evacuated.

One South Dakota youngster is hoping to parlay his 'business in the front, party in the back' hairstyle into national fame this summer. Good News: Town of Bryant stepping up to improve park
Big things are happening in the small Hamlin County town of Bryant, South Dakota. A campaign to significantly upgrade the town’s park already has raised $200,000 for new playground equipment. The equipment has been ordered and will be installed as soon as it arrives, perhaps within the next month. Much of the installation work will be done by community volunteers.

Shortly before noon, a construction crew working near SD Highway 28 and Burlington Street intersection accidentally hit a natural gas line. Responding to the incident, the Hamlin County Sheriff's Office, Hamlin County Emergency Management, and the Lake Norden Fire Department quickly evacuated nearby businesses.

RC Regional Airport Sets New Passenger Record
(Rapid City, SD) — The Rapid City Regional Airport is celebrating a milestone record. Through the first six months of the year, the airport has seen the most passengers ever come through its doors. The number comes out to around 30-thousand more passengers getting on flights compared to this time last year. Executive Director Patrick Dame credits new flights, larger passenger planes and the Black Hills for the increase. Rapid City Regional’s new destinations include direct flights to Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles and Orlando with plans to also add direct flights from Houston and San Francisco for this year’s Sturgis Rally.
