SW falls in Warriors versus Warriors battle
Avenging last year’s regional semifinal game and a contest earlier this season against South Winn, Wapsie Valley pushed the Red and White out of the postseason Wednesday in the Class 2A Region 7 Semifinal, 9-3. South Winn ended the season with a 22-13 overall mark as the Upper Iowa Conference champions for the second straight year.
WC stops Trojans in round one
The Turkey Valley softball team looked to start the Class 1A postseason strong; however, a comeback launched by West Central (9-14) ended the Trojans’ plans Monday. The Trojans end the season 7-24 overall with a 7-9 conference mark. With no seniors on the team, Turkey Valley gained valuable experience on the diamond this season.
Two vehicle accident reported in Butler County from the weekend
Saturday about 10am the Iowa State Patrol was called out on the report of a two vehicle accident northwest of Shell Rock along Highway 3 near Vintage Lane. 56-year-old Sonia High of Shell Rock was traveling westbound on Highway 3 driving a 2012 GMC Acadia when for some reason she crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound semi-truck and trailer combination driven by 62-year-old Michael Toussaint of Sumner head on.
