Car wash worker dials 911 after intoxicated driver gets in line
A car wash worker dialed 911 after a “severely intoxicated” driver got in line for a wash. Guatemalan native Alfredo Perez Morales, 44, of Summerfield, who was driving without a license, was at the wheel of a gold 2005 Ford Taurus when he showed up shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday at the Mr. Clean Car Wash on U.S. 301 in Oxford, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. He initially pulled up to the exit, rather than the entrance, of the car wash. A car wash employee went up the driver’s side window of Morales’ vehicle and tried to instruct him on how to properly enter the car wash.

A man named Michael Fleming was faced with a felony robbery charge after an unusual bank visit in Sumter County. The 41-year-old man reportedly tried to withdraw 1 cent on June 29 at the Chase Bank on US-441 in Lady Lake, according to Fox 35 Orlando. He allegedly walked into the bank, filled out a withdrawal slip for 1 cent and handed it to a teller.
Villager to lose license after golf cart DUI at town square
A Villager has lost his driver’s license after an arrest for driving under the influence in a golf cart at town square. William Bruce Campbell, 65, of the Village of Collier, pleaded no contest this past week in Sumter County Court to a charge of driving under the influence. He will lose his license for six months, has been placed on probation for one year and has been ordered to perform 50 hours of community service.
Audi-driving snowbird gets break after DUI arrest in The Villages
An Audi-driving snowbird has won a break in a drunk driving case in The Villages. Russell Schneider, 73, of Boston, Mass. pleaded no contest this past week in Sumter County Court to a reduced charge of reckless driving. He had been facing a charge of driving under the influence. He has been placed on probation for six months and has been ordered to perform 50 hours of community service.
