An afternoon of Broadway show tunes will be featured during a “Baruch Does Broadway” performance at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18 at Temple Beth Shalom of the West Valley, 12202 N. 101st Ave.

The event features Baruch Koritan, Jo Anne Magden and Sharon Friendly.

Koritan, the Temple Beth Shalom cantor since 1992, has sung opera, jazz and in regional Broadway shows, including the title role in the Arizona premiere of “Sweeny Todd” and as Lancelot in “Camelot.”

He sang Mozart in Vienna and at the Scottsdale Center. A composer and pianist, he has performed his own compositions at cantors’ conventions internationally. He also taught about Broadway music for the Bureau of Jewish Education, Scottsdale, for more than a decade.

Magden has performed leading roles in “Sound of Music,” “HMS Pinafore” and “Die Fledermaus,” among others in Phoenix, Flagstaff and Iowa. She also sings in classical concerts and religious services.

Friendly sang in the Canadian version of “Your Hit Parade” and square-danced with Gordon Lightfoot on the King Ganam Country Show. She was Senior Ms. Arizona in two pageants, singing opera and Broadway hits, and is a cantorial soloist.

Cost is $20 per person if paid in advance by Feb. 14 or $25 at the door.

For advance reservations, contact the Temple at 623-977-3240 or templebethshalomaz@gmail.com, or visit tbsaz.org and follow the link to Zeffy.com to pay.

Individuals can also dedicate a song to a loved one for $50 and Koritan will announce the dedication then talk about the song’s significance before it is performed.
