Artists donate work to Sun City show, sale

The Palo Verde Artists Art Show and Sale, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 22 and 23 at the Sundial Recreation Center, 14801 N. 103rd Ave., will offer viewers many chances to take home art.

This Sun City club will sell raffle tickets for $1 each or six for $5.

Richard Hoffman has donated two works for the raffle. Hoffman is donating a large acrylic painting and a pencil drawing.

He said painting and drawing are things he “has to do.”

“The gift of artistic talent must be fed or it will die,” he said.

He draws and/or paints because he loves to make something come out of the page. When people like his work and recognize him as an artist, he wants to make more art.

Loretta Hostettler has donated a watercolor portrait of a grandmother holding an infant. The infant’s innocence and newness to the world inspired her to create this work. Hostettler loves doing portraits and working in watercolor, which is her first love when it comes to the fine arts.

She started her art career as a photographer with her favorite subject being her grandchildren, and now she has a trove of photos that inspire her portrait paintings.

Winners of the raffle will be chosen on Saturday when the show closes. Winners need not be present to win.

Membership in Palo Verde Artists is $10 per year and is open to Recreation Centers of Sun City cardholders only.
