Residents living in Sun City, Sun City West, Surprise, Peoria, El Mirage and Youngtown are invited to a community education summit focused on bolstering the emergency preparedness of our senior community at 10 a.m. to noon April 23 at First Baptist Church, 17419 N. Conquistador Dr. The event will feature experts in emergency management, health and safety, who will share insights and strategies for enhancing resiliency and readiness.

The event is offered as a free resource to the community. Registration is not required.

Speakers include Ashley Bevier, regional preparedness manager, Arizona and New Mexico, for the American Red Cross; Stephanie Miller, disability and emergency preparedness equity educator, Arizona Statewide Independent Living Council; Jesus Haro, staff scientist/senior meteorologist, Salt River Project; Tina Ladowski, CEM, emergency management program manager, Banner Health; and the Maricopa County Department of Public Health.

Other agencies offering resourcs include the Area Agency on Aging, Salvation Army, Sun City Posse, Sun City West Posse, Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs, Benevilla, City of Surprise, Sun Health and many more community organizations.

“This is a great opportunity for our area residents to empower themselves and their loved ones, and be prepared for any emergency,” said Courtney Allen, Benevilla’s vice president of program operations. “Join us in making our community a safer place for everyone by preparing yourself before something happens in your home or the greater community.”
