Sun City church notes meal, program schedule

Lakeview United Methodist Church, 10298 W. Thunderbird Blvd., has announced the menus for its meal/fellowship program of TNT (Thursday Night Together) for August.

Meals begin at 5 p.m. in Smoot Hall and consist of a salad bar, entree, dessert and beverage (iced water, lemonade, iced tea, coffee). After the meals, there may be a program or a guest speaker.

In addition, there will be a performance after the Aug. 8 meal by  the Sun City Ukulele Club. The members showcase their passion for music and the ukulele through classic tunes and toe-tapping originals. The concert begins at 6:30 p.m. in Smoot Hall. Tickets are not required; however, a free-will offering will be accepted.

The meals are prepared by Chef Larnell Benton and cost $8 per person for each meal and $9 per person for each to-go meal. Reservations must be made by 4 p.m. the Tuesday before the event. For reservations or further information, contact the church office at 623-974-5821, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Thursday.

The dates and menus are: Aug. 1 — roasted chicken wings, seasoned potatoes, sweet corn; Aug. 8 — baked ziti, roasted vegetables, rolls; Aug. 15 — loaded baked potato bar, seasoned veggies; Aug. 22 — green chili pork, white rice, black beans; and Aug. 29 — pot roast with potatoes and carrots, green beans, cornbread.
