SPAM hosts Galentine's Day event for Sun City West residents

The recent Scrapbooking, Papercrafts & More’s Galentine event offered information for those interested in learning about the skills and tools used in making hand-crafted greeting cards and discovering what the paper-crafting club is all about.

Using several of the club’s paper-crafting tools, participants learned how to use a die-cut machine, cutting dies and embossing folders to make fanciful, embellished Valentine’s Day cards.

Club members assisting at other work stations, showed attendees how to incorporate basic diaper-fold techniques on cardstock die cuts to make decorative heart-shaped Valentine candy party favors.

Demonstrations of the electronic scan-and-cut machine illustrated how hand-cutting paper images out of paper is a thing of the past. Guests could also peruse scrapbook samples and ask members about traditional and digital scrapbooking techniques. Throughout the event there were refreshments, snacks and door prizes.

SPAM meets in Beardsley’s Agave Room on Wednesdays (4-9 p.m./winter), Thursdays (10 a.m.-3 p.m.), Fridays (10 a.m.-3 p.m.) and Saturdays (10 a.m.-5 p.m.).
