SPAM members demonstrate crafting device in Sun City West

Members of Scrapbooking, Papercrafts & More have multiple opportunities through the club to learn a variety of artistic techniques with which to decorate greeting cards.

Almost any store dedicated to crafts offers a variety of paper crafting mediums and tools but as art materials are often quite costly, learning about a particular medium or device from fellow members without having to purchase it beforehand is a benefit appreciated by club members.

Nancy Thorn and Susan Lukachie recently provided a workshop on using the Spellbinder Betterpress letterpress system. Used in conjunction with a manual die-cutting machine, the system impresses a printed design into cotton-based cardstock using a specialized metal die with ink. The decorative appeal resembles that of professionally made imprinted cards.

Learn how to make greeting cards, papercrafts or scrapbooks (traditional or digital) by joining SPAM in the Beardsley Center’s Agave Room on Wednesdays (4-9 p.m.), Thursdays (10 a.m.-3 p.m.), Fridays (10 a.m.-3 p.m.) and Saturdays (10 a.m.-5 p.m.).
