In the final presentation for the Sports Pavilion until June, Recreation Centers of Sun City West officials presented the financial performance of the facility.

RCSCW Chief Financial Officer Clif Swann looked at March compared to budget and said it was pretty much right on.

“With the closures of the Sports Pavilion for the period of time for the month of August and first couple weeks of September, the ancillary revenue is tough to make up because of the closure as well of the restaurant being closed for essentially the last eight months,” Swann said.

The $19,000 loss will not be made up by the end of the year, he added.

The major difference is $13,000 favorable in supplies and equipment because pins were purchased last year and this year those were not purchased.

The sports pavilion operationally is operating at a positive and not being subsidized by member dues, according to Swann.

“The Sports Pavilion is considered an amenity and for it being mostly for community in terms of the facility, including the billiards, Lizard Acres and it is the only amenity that pays for itself operationally,” Swann said.

Bowling revenue changes for fiscal year 2024 versus 2023 include league play up by 7% and open, promotional and guest bowling are down, according to Swann.
