Most people know it as the Automotive/Restoration Club building, but ARC club members call it “The Shop.” With tours that bring in more than 1,000 people a year, and more than 2,500 visits annually from members and others working on cars, ARC members Jim Gallagher and Tony Giralamo make sure everything runs smooth operationally. Gallagher is the shop manager and Giralamo is the assistant shop manager.

The ARC shop manager has many duties but the two most important are overall safety (which is number one) and favorable operational metrics. ARC adheres to the best safety procedures and guidelines available. The assistant shop manager also has many duties, with the most critical ones being efficient supply management and proactive shop maintenance. In addition, Gallagher and Giralamo have approximately 30 shop foremen also involved with daily functions they oversee.

Gallagher and Giralamo have a love of cars that started from an early age. Gallagher’s first car was a 1942 Ford and his current “toy” is a 1965 Corvette. He has been a ARC member for nine years. Giralamo’s first car was a 1968 Chevrolet Impala, which cost him $175, and his current “toy” is a 1969 Plymouth Barracuda. He has been a club member for the past four years.

“With these two guys at the controls at The Shop, that’s one thing that doesn’t keep me up at night,” stated ARC Club President Craig Landers.

All Sun City West residents are encouraged to stop by the ARC building and see The Shop.
