    Estrella Daughters meet in Sun City West, swear in officers

    The Estrella Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution met for its annual spring luncheon May 9 at the Briarwood Country Club. This was the group’s final event before the summer break.

    Honorary Regent Jody Johnson gave a presentation on “The Collectible Hummels: Their Place in Military History and Why They Might Be Important to Your Family History.”

    The officers for the July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2026 term took their oath of office, administered by Past Chaplain Lillian Schauer. They are Laura

    Linton, regent, Deborah Twardosz, vice regent, Nancy Nixon, treasurer, Denise Archibald, registrar, and Ellen Huck, historian/librarian. Linda Hurliman, corresponding secretary, took her oath via Zoom. Jamie Hanson, recording secretary and chaplain, was traveling and will take her oath at the Chapter’s October meeting.

    The officers were elected at the April meeting and will take office July 1.

    Daughters of the American Revolution Society was founded in 1890 with the mission of promoting historic preservation, education and patriotism. Women descendants of persons who served or aided the cause of the revolution are eligible to join.

    The Estrella Chapter meets monthly on the second Thursday of each month, October through May, at the Sun City West Foundation, 14465 W. R.H. Johnson Blvd.
