Sun City West guest speaker focuses on firearm violence

The Northwest Valley Democrats held a meeting May 5 featuring guest speaker Will Humble, Arizona Public Health Association.

President Maria Bears began the meeting with a recap of the April 10 ‘indoor spring picnic’, which featured Barbara Fike, candidate for the Arizona House of Representatives, District 28, as the guest speaker.

The club will continue to meet socially for Summer Cocktail Hour at 5 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month  for June, July and August at State 48 Brewery,  13823 W. Bell Road, and on the fourth Wednesdays at 9 a.m. in June, July and August at Betty’s Rooste,  14418 W. Meeker Blvd.

All club members and  progressive-minded friends are welcome  to attend the social events.

Will Humble of the Arizona Public Health Association was the guest speaker at the meeting.  He addressed firearm violence and how data can be used to implement better and more effective legislation. Humble worked for 35 years in public health, which includes more than two decades at the Arizona Department of Health Services,

The next meeting is set for Wednesday, Sept. 11.
