Many members of the Automotive/Restoration Club have been supporting the newly opened Pete’s Cafe in the Sun City West Sports Pavilion.

ARC member Vince Crelley, who is also a member of the Metal Club, thought it would be nice to show ARC’s appreciation of the new restaurant. Originally from Liverpool, England, Crelley migrated to Canada in 1958, then to the United States in 1965, working for Boeing Aircraft.

Crelley used something called the “blaze machine” at the Metal Club to create a plaque/sign with the design of Pete’s Cafe’s logo and a cartoon character replica of an empanada, which is a baked or fried turnover consisting of pastry and filling common in Latin American countries. The empanada is holding the Puerto Rican flag.

Owner Pete Aviles was surprised to receive the plaque/sign and excited to hang it in an appropriate spot for all patrons to see.
