Sun City West club celebrates a patriotic Christmas in July

It is Christmas in July for the Artistic Hand Lettering Cards & Mixed Media club of Sun City West.

The club celebrated by creating Christmas cards July 15 for Lauren Dowd-Erickson who made an appeal on Facebook to card makers for help to make cards for local veterans, the Blue Star Mothers and the Military Order of the Purple Heart.

The first year the club created more than 150 out of season cards and the following year resulted in more than 200 cards for Dowd-Erickson to distribute. In 2023, homemade cookies added extra sweetness to the delivery of more than 400 Christmas cards.

This year the Blue Star Moms and Military Order of the Purple Heart will be the recipient of 500 cards created by Artistic Hand Lettering, Cards & Mixed Media members in appreciation for their service.
