The Arizona Fire & Medical Authority has selected Air Methods Ascend’s EMS Review online programs to provide renewal education to its first responders.

AFMA covers more than 600 square miles and serves approximately 90,000 residents in the Litchfield Farms, Sun City West, Whittman and Buckeye areas. AFMA is a full service, all hazard fire and rescue staffed by EMS personnel, and more than 50 active citizen volunteers in community support roles. AFMA will be partnering with Air Methods to provide online clinical EMS review programs.

In Arizona, Emergency Medical Professional certifications expire every two years, and to continue serving the community, emergency medical professionals are required to continue their training. The Air Methods education program gives learners access to educators, tools and technologies to help build their knowledge. Education programs include advanced simulation and virtual reality training that mirror real-world patient care scenarios.

“[The] online program provides AFMA with the necessary education to meet our goal of providing the highest level of care and quality service to our residents,” said AFMA’s Fire Chief Mark Burdick. “We are grateful to have access to cutting-edge continuing education to ensure our EMTs and paramedics have the knowledge to provide our patients with the care they need and deserve.”

The first responders will have access to 60 curriculum hours of courses on airway management, cardiovascular health, trauma, operations, and other medical emergency topics
