Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church, 13658 W. Meeker Blvd., announces the launch of a new cancer support group starting 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, and meeting every other Tuesday in the Prayer Room in Fellowship Hall.

This initiative aims to provide a nurturing environment where individuals affected by cancer can find comfort, support and community. The support group offers a safe space for participants to share their experiences, receive encouragement and gain insights from others who understand firsthand the impact of this disease. Cancer patients, survivors, caregivers and family members are welcome.

The support group will be run by the Church’s Health Educator Julie Killebrew, who has 15 years of nursing education and 30 years of oncology nursing experience.

“We understand the importance of support and companionship during difficult times,” said Killebrew. “Our hope is that this support group will serve as a beacon of hope and solidarity for those navigating the complexities of cancer and friends of folks dealing with cancer.”

For more information about the cancer support group or to register, contact Shepherd of the Hills at 623-584-2280 or healthedu@shepherdofthehills.org.

“We invite anyone in our community who has been impacted by cancer to join us,” added Killebrew. “Together, we can share our stories, offer strength to one another, and foster a sense of resilience.”
