Connections, a Sun City West women’s friendship group, met May 10 at Briarwood Country Club. Group president Kathy Adams introduced Barbara Mason from Benevilla, who spoke about dementia and how Benevilla has programs to help and support families with this growing disease.

Mason explained there are 50 types of cognitive disorders under the umbrella of dementia, including Alzheimers. Benevilla teaches caregivers how and where to reach out for help and has daycare centers and daily classes on how to communicate and relearn some basic skills lost or temporarily misplaced in the brain.

The purpose of Connections is to provide a format for Sun City West and Corte Bella women to meet other local women, get acquainted, form enduring friendships and support worthy causes within the community.

The club meets the second Thursday of each month for a luncheon and meeting followed by a program or bridge and games. Reservations are required by the first of each month.

Membership is open to all female residents of Sun City West and Corte Bella. Annual dues covering 2024 are $20; dues will increase to $25 effective May 1, 2025.

Contact Adams at 623-547-5268 or tweetyaz2014@gmail.com for more information.
