    American Association of University Women, Northwest Valley hosts speaker

    The American Association of University Women Northwest Valley meets 9 a.m. on the Third Thursday of the month from September to April at the Sun City West Foundation, 14465 W. R.H. Johnson Blvd.

    Tammy Steward, chief development officer for Arizona Science Center will speak at the 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17 meeting, at the Foundation.

    There are great Special Interest Groups to be involved in such as bridge, food and wine groups, Euchre, many book clubs, hiking club, travel club, women’s history, Mah Jongg, Great Decisions, girlfriends and others. This year there are new STEM co-chairs. A fashion show is held in Sun City West to benefit the scholarship programs. AAUW provides the opportunity to join a circle of women intent upon breaking through educational and economic barriers to enable women and girls to enjoy success in their professional, community and personal lives.

    Membership is open to anyone holding an associates, bachelor’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
