Barracuda Aquatics Club looking for more swimmers

Barracuda Aquatics Club is accepting new swimmers who want to be the next Michael Phelps and Katie Lededy.

President Paula Lee said the club is proud to promote the development, sportsmanship and teamwork in kids ages 6-18.

“We believe in a positive attitude, both in competition and throughout all aspects of training and preparation. We provide recognition and resources to motivate and assist members to strive for the highest ideals of performance in and out of the water,” Lee said.

The club began in 1961 at Bloomington Aquatic Club and works off the team philosophy: “Swim. Laugh. Grow. Succeed for life.”

Each swimmer will learn the four competitive strokes plus racing turns and starts with the idea of seeing improvement throughout the season.

Last season, Barracuda had four swimmers qualify for the state championships at the Univesity of Minnesota including Ben Jones (14), Kaylee Von Ruden (13), Cayden Thull (11) and Luke Snyder (10). “They all had great seasons with lifetime best times,” Lee said.

New swimmers are invited to an evaluation by the coaching staff anytime during the season which began April 1 at Olson Middle School or the Bloomington Family Aquatic Center. Swimmers can also register for a free two-week trial period by emailing Lee at swimlaughgrow@yahoo.com for more information.
