    Spartan Invite brings Kennedy, Jefferson track teams to Richfield

    Jefferson swept the boys’ and girls’ track and field team titles at the Richfield Spartan Relays on Thursday.

    The girls’ garnered 230.33 points with Minneapolis Washburn (158.33) runner-up, Kennedy was third with 82 points and Richfield was fourth with 75.33.

    On the boys’ side, Jefferson captured the title with 178.5 points, Washburn was second (150), Kennedy was third (132) and Richfield was fourth (103.5).

    Jefferson junior Evan Feller won the 100 meter dash in a personal-best time of 11.27 seconds ahead of Kennedy runner-up Yoonis Hashi who also had a PR of 11.63 and JFK classmate Enoch Dablaka in 11.65.

    Feller won the 200m in 23.35 with Kennedy sophomore Ryan Kruger second in a PR of 24.23 and Richfield senior Musah Sanneh third in 24.40.

    Sanneh was second in the 400m dash in 53.48 and classmate Joaquin Jamison who was named the Tom Spooner Award winner recently, placed third in 53.68.

    Jefferson senior Forrest Noeske was second in the 800m run and classmate Ian Klein was fourth in 2:08.96. Kennedy junior Malik Simmons was third in a PR of 2:05.53 and Richfield senior and Spooner Award recipient Thomas Madrid was 10th in 2:15.56.

    In the 1,600m run Jefferson’s Miles Bassett was second in 4:36.31 and teammate Patrick Altstatt was fifth in 4:43.25.

    Jaguar sophomore teammes Logan Young and Connor Sweeney were third (10:41.69) and fourth (10:49.81), respectively in the 3,200m run.

    Jefferson junior hurdler Sam Remsbottom won the 300m hurdles in 45.75 and was second in the 110m hurdles in 17.56. Kennedy senior Jerrik Miller was third in the 110m hurdles in 18.75.

    In the relays, Kennedy’s 4x100 relay won in 46.48 ahead of Minneapolis Patrick Henry’s runner-up time of 47.04, Jefferson was third in 47.39 and Richfield was fourth in 47.73.

    In the 4x200 relay, Washburn beat Kennedy in 1:34.46 to 1:35.93, Jefferson was third in 1:37.29 and Richfield was fifth in 1:43.33. Jefferson swept the 4x400 (3:45.29) and 4x800 (8:59.12) relays with Richfield second in the 4x800 in 9:29.00.

    Jefferson thrower David Schiller swept the throwing events winning the shot put with a PR of 50-6 and won the discus going 156-01.

    Richfield’s Tayjhon Turley was second in the shot put going 39-4 and junior teammate Brody Johnson went 34-7. Kennedy’s Jayveon Kelley was third going 38-10 for a new PR.

    Kennedy’s Anthony Taing was third in the discus going 127-6 for a PR and Richfield’s Quinn Cosssette was sixth with a PR of 111-3.

    Kennedy senior Antonio Wendlandt won the high jump clearing the bar at 5 feet, 6 inches ahead of Jefferson’s Thomas Rowland and Kenendy teammate Jerrik Mmiller. The trio each cleared 5-6 but Wendlandt did sooner with fewer attempts.

    Richfield sophomore Brendan Smith won the pole vault clearing the bar at 9-6, the same height as Jefferson’s Anders Westanmo but did so in few attempts.

    Richfield junior Drew Bartle won the long jump going 18-11 while Kennedy runner-up Ryan Kruger cleared a new PR of 18-6 1/2 and Jefferson senior Danny King went 18-4 to place third.

    Bartle was runner-up in the triple jump going 37-11 while Washburn’s Michael Stevens went 34-9 to win the event while Kennedy’s Ammar Elmustafa was third at 37-00.

    Girls

    In the girls’ events, Richfield junior Madison Monroe won the 200m in a 29.21, one-hundredth of a second ahead of Washburn runner-up Nell Gardner.

    Jefferson junior Megan Schrooten won the 800m in 2:28.76 ahead of teamamte Avery Rich who finished in 2:34.08.

    Rich was also runner-up in the 1,600m in 5:33.94 while Athena Award recipient and teammate Maren Myers won the race in 5:33.85.

    In the 3,200m run Jeffeson swept the top two spots with Vivian Krhin beating out teammate Jamie Drewitz in 12:26.02 to 12:40.37. Richfield’s Signe Linne was third in 13:38.44.

    Jeffeson juniors Kaylynn Barns and Charlotte Bellmont went 1-2 in the 100m hurdles in 18.63 and 18.82, respectively. Barns was second in the 300m hurdles in 55.74 while Washburn’s Chloe Angerman won it in 49.17.

    Richfield’s relay teams stood out with the 4x100 relay beating out Jefferson in 53.11 to 54.30, respectively and Kennedy was third in 54.91.

    The Spartans were second in the 4x200 relay in 1:51.68 while Washburn won it 1:50.25.

    Jefferson won the 4x400 relay ahead of Richfield in 4:32.86 to 4:43.94.

    Bellmont also excelled in the throws, winning the shot put with a 29-11 and was second in the discus going 92-2 1/2.

    Kennedy pole vaulter Daphne Such won clearing the bar set at 9-6 and was second in the long jump going 14-11, both season-bests.

    Richfield vaulter Addy Taylor was third clearing 7 feet and Jefferson runner-up Schrooten matched the height.

    Jefferson’s Giada Requejo won the long jump ahead of Kennedy’s Such going 15-10 to 14-11.

    Jeffeson’s Annika Dyrud won the triple jump going 30-6.
