    Edina girls aquatics team finishes undefeated in Lake

    With a 94-87 win over St. Michael-Albertville Oct. 10, the Edina High girls aquatics team finished a perfect season in Lake Conference dual meets.

    Coach Jeff Mace’s Hornets lost the opening race of the meet, the 200 medley relay, to the Knights and Knights star Lily Van Heel won the 200-yard individual medley and the 100 butterfly. Overall, the Hornets scored well in very race.

    Edina’s 200 medley relay of Bobbi Simmons, Taylor Thompson, Libbi McCarthy and Maddie Brinkman took second place in 1:54.55.

    Audrey Peterson of the Hornets won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:00.33 with teammate Anja Nymo taking third place.

    Siggy Nymo and Abby Hahn of Edina placed second and third in the 200 individual medley.

    Edina swept 1-2-3 in the 50 freestyle with McCarthy winning in 24.40 and Macy Malinski and Sophie Katz in second and third places.

    Cat Muir and Eloise Anderson of the Hornets placed third and fourth in diving.

    Simmons and Siggy Nymo gave the Hornets second and third places behind Van Heel in the 100 butterfly.

    In the 100 freestyle, Hornet Anja Nymo was second behind STMA’s Addie Thompson-Klimpke.

    Peterson became Edina’s first double winner of the meet with a victory in the 500 freestyle. Her time was 5:16.52.

    McCarthy, Simmons, Janie Siedschlag and Ellen McClees gave Edina first place in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:43.59.

    Jane Hughes of Edina won the 100 backstroke in 1:03.38 and teammate Tilly Katz placed second.

    Edina swam exhibition only the last two events, allowing STMA to close the gap in the final score.

    Hailey Riley had STMA’s best time of 1:09.55 in the 100 breaststroke.

    Thompson-Klimpke, Addison Vanvooren, Maddie Tillman and Natalie Stiehm of the Knights won the 400 freestyle relay in 4:01.77.

    Edina posted a 400 free relay exhibition time of 3:39.45 with McCarthy, Anja Nymo, Peterson and Hahn. The Hornets added a 3:46.47 with Siggy Nymo, Simmons, Kaya Ygona and Gwenyth McLachlan and a 3:49.31 with Malinski, McClees, Brinkman and Grace Hauck.

    Edina finished 6-0 in the conference. Minnetonka was second with a 5-1 mark.
