    Ken Vavrichek

A Bloomington native and Luther junior outfielder for the Norse softball team made a big impact on a 4-3 win over Loras College on Saturday. After making a diving catch in the fourth inning, Vavrichek ended the game with a three-run home run to not only win the game but extend his hitting streak to seven games (10-for-27). The 2021 Blake School grad is hitting .381 with 24 hits and 31 runs in 22 games.

    Tristan Broz

The Denver University junior and Bloomington native played a big role in helping the Pioneers reach this weekend’s Frozen Four in St. Paul. He scored 12:28 into a second overtime for a 2-1 win over Massachusetts in Springfield, Massachusetts on March 28. It was his third game-winner of the season as he has 39 points (15 goals, 24 assists) in 41 games. He also set up Boston Buckberger’s opening goal in the second period to give Denver a 1-0 lead. Denver went on to beat Cornell 2-1 on March 30 to win the region title.

    Lamar Grayson

The Valley City State (North Dakota) junior guard and Richfield alum averaged 12.5 points in 23 games for the men’s basketball team this winter. The Vikings went 11-16 overall.

    Jackie Larsen

The Bemidji State freshman centerfielder and Bloomington Jefferson alum is batting .326 for the Beavers (8-25 overall) with seven multiple hit games in 31 appearances (29 starts). She went 4-for-4 in a 3-1 win over Southwest Minnesota State on March 24. She shares the team lead for RBIs with 15 and leads the team with eight steals.

    Oliver Heitzman

The Holy Angels No. 1 singles tennis player opened the season with a 6-4, 7-5 win over his North Branch counterpart Wyatt Helberg in a 6-1 team win on Saturday to open the season.

    Trey Petersen

The St. Olaf freshman pole vaulter and Richfield alum cleared an indoor-season best 11 feet, 2 1/2 inches to place 20th at the Stout (Wisconsin) Quad on Feb. 20. More recently, he placed eighth at the Norse Invite (Luther College) clearing 10-6.
