The primetime matchup between the Waconia baseball team and Chanhassen lived up to the moment, as the Wildcats and Storm went to extra innings on Friday night.

It was a pitchers duel with just seven hits between the two teams. Adam Rice started the game for Waconia, going five innings with one earned run on two hits while picking up seven strikeouts. Maddux Schrupp then pitched a scoreless 2.1 innings with one hit and six strikeouts. Reed Klatt then earned the win in .2 innings with no hits allowed.

Chanhassen got on the board in the fifth inning before Waconia responded to even the game at 1-1 in the bottom half of the inning. Guy Ladwig walked, Luke Koschinska singled and Jacob Weir walked to load the bases with two outs, then Austin Randall worked the count to draw a walk and put a run on the board for Waconia.

After going past the usual seven innings, Waconia found the winner in the bottom of the eighth. Matthew Mieras walked, then Reed Klatt doubled on a line drive to right field, before Guy Ladwig was hit by a pitch to load the bases. A wild pitch then scored the game-winning run, giving Waconia the 2-1 walk off victory.

Waconia out-hit Chanhassen 4-3 in the win. Culley Ohm, Matthew Mieras. Reed Klatt and Luke Koschinska each had a hit. Austin Randall had the lone RBI, while Matthew Mieras and Guy Ladwig each scored a run.

With the win, Waconia moves to 5-3 on the season.
