    Wildcats end week strong

    The Waconia baseball team bounced back from a pair of early losses to win their final two games of the week. After a 7-1 loss to Bloomington Jefferson and a 5-4 loss to Eden Prairie, the Wildcats defeated St. Louis Park 11-0 and Chaska 2-0.

    Waconia built a 4-0 lead over Eden Prairie before the Eagles came back to score five runs in the final three innings to win the game 5-4. Seven Wildcats combined for 11 hits, led by Jacob Wier’s three, Culley Ohm’s two and Matthew Mieras’ two. Guy Ladwig, Soren Marker, Ohm and Mieras each had an RBI in loss.

    Waconia scored early and often when taking on Saint Louis Park, scoring in the first four innings before winning the game in the five. The Wildcats’ biggest inning came in the fourth when they put six runs across the board. The ‘Cats outhit the Orioles 11-0. Landon Majerus earned the win in five innings of work with seven strikeouts and no hits allowed. Austin Randall had three hits, while Reed Klatt and Weir each had two. Ladwig and Weir had three RBIs to lead the ‘Cats, while Klatt had two. Marker and Randall had one each.

    Waconia capped off the week by defeating Chaska 2-0, outhitting the Hawks 7-2. Austin Randall and Maddux Schrupp had two hits each while Mieras, Marker and Lucas Koschinska each had one. Lucas Langin earned the win in 6.1 innings of work with two hits allowed and no earned runs. Klatt came in and earned the save in .2 innings.

    In the final week of the regular season, the Waconia softball team bounced back from a 10-1 loss against Chanhassen to defeat Benilde-St. Margaret’s 7-5 and Orono 4-1.

    The Wildcats had seven hits against the Storm but couldn’t generate enough runs in the 10-1 loss. Nicole Weinberger led the team with three hits.

    The Wildcats bounced back the next day by taking a 6-0 lead over the Red Knights before holding on to win 7-5. Waconia had 10 hits in the win, once again led by Weinberger’s three. Ellana Keaveny, Madelyn Grover and Reagan Mieras each had two hits, while Grover led the team in RBI’s with two. Both Grover and Rylyn Borg homered in the win.

    Waconia would outhit the Spartans 9-2 and a 4-1 win, this time taking a 4-0 lead before holding on to earn the victory in the final game of the regular season. Ada Harmon had three hits and two RBIs to lead the ‘Cats, while Grover and Mieras had two hits each. Weinberger hit a solo home run, accounting for one hit and one RBI in the win. Ella Stejskal and Audrey Bauer both spent time in the circle, with Stejskal earning the win, allowing just one hit. Neither pitcher gave up an earned run in the win.

    Waconia finishes the regular season with a 9-10 record.
