    Chanhassen sports update

    Football

    The Chanhassen football team got a big win Friday night, defeating Rochester Century 63-0. The Storm got off to a strong start, scoring four touchdowns in both the first and second quarter.

    Nathan Ramler book-ended the first quarter with a pair of touchdown strikes, finding Ty Jensen for a 12-yard score and James Kopfmann for a 61-yard touchdown. Riley Syverson and Coleman Zielinski had a pair of rushing touchdowns in between.

    Ramler would connect with Jensen again on the first play of the second quarter, this time for a 25-yard touchdown. Josiaih Cox would score from 28 yards out moments later and Zielinski found paydirt for the second time Friday night on a 2-yard run. Ollie Jost then capped the first half scoring with a 44-yard pick six.

    Zielinski started the second half with a 38-yard touchdown, his third of the night.

    The Storm heads to Waconia Sept. 20.

    Volleyball

    The No. 9 ranked Chanhassen volleyball team defeated Orono 3-0 Sept. 12, winning 25-15, 25-17, 25-11.

    Ella Zieske and Bryn Lunski led the attack with 19 and 13 kills respectively. Anna O’Keefe and Brooke Schuler both had three kills, while Sydney Benson, Lauren Barker and Ava Hart Tillman each had one.

    O’Keefe dished out 32 assists, while Grace Heath, Alaina Scholle and Barker each had one.

    The Storm piled up 16 aces in the win – Heath (5), Schuler (4), O’Keefe (3), Lunski (1), Barker (1), Zieske (1) and Sienna Brosch (1).

    Lunski led the back row with 10 digs and was followed by Barker (6), Zieske (6), O’Keefe (5), Alexis Ellman (3), Schuler (2), Evie Theobald (1), Heath (1), Scholle (1) and Brosch (1).

    Lunski had a solo block. Schuler had two block assists, while O’Keefe and Zieske both had one.

    Girls soccer

    The Chanhassen girls soccer team went 2-0-1 last week, defeating St. Louis Park 2-0 and Prior Lake 2-0 with a 1-1 tie against Orono in between.

    Bella Naples scored twice in the win against the Orioles, with Marnie Hansen assisting both goals.

    Cross country

    The Chanhassen cross country team ran at Crown College Sept. 12, competing in the Wildcat Invitational.

    Connor Heltemes led the boys with a second-place finish of 16 minutes, 45.5 seconds. He was followed by Boston Pyle (17:11.0), Kazimir Korzenowski (18:14.3), Jordan Hunnicutt (18:17.3), Tyler Wujcik (19:11.4) and Connor Clemons (19:55.3).

    London Thiele (21:44.6) led the girls and was followed by Analisa Castagnetto (22:55.9), Hayden Button (23:08.3), Christina Blackowiak (23:40.6) and Reese Slechta (25:02.3).

    The Storm then competed in the Metro Invitational Sept. 14.

    Connor Heltemes (16:18.2) led the boys and was followed by Boston Pyle (16:57.7), Isaak Feuerhelm (17:36.4), Kazimir Korzenowski (17:39.7), Jordan Hunnicutt (18:00.3), Leyton Mau (18:14.9) and Tyler Wujcik (18:59.9).

    London Thiele (21:19.2) led the girls and was followed by Analisa Castagnetto (22:04.2), Reese Slechta (22:33.8), Hayden Button (23:06.8) and Christina Blackowiak (23:14.8).

    Girls tennis

    The Chanhassen girls tennis team bounced back from a pair of close losses with a 6-1 win over Waconia.

    The Storm swept the singles matches as Kegan Van Asten won 6-2, 6-0; Lily Christensen won 6-0, 6-0; andPiper Christensen won 6-2, 6-3.

    Addi Meyers and Leah Groff won a tightly contested match against Waconia’s Kalli Swanson and Emerson Schutte (7-5, 4-6, 10-8).Ryann Klett and Bryn Spletstoser won 6-4, 6-1.

    Chanhassen swept the singles matches in a 4-3 loss to Orono. Kegan Van Asten won 7-5, 6-1; Lily Christensen won 3-6, 6-3, 12-10; and Piper Christensen won 6-4, 7-6.

    Kegan Van Asten won her singles match against Southwest Christian 6-3, 6-2, while Piper Christensen and Addi Meyers played in closely contested matches (4-6, 3-6 and 2-6, 6-0, 10-8).

    Lily Christensen and Bryn Spletstoser won 7-5, 5-7, 10-7.Ava Muslof and Kendal Grant won 6-4, 6-1.
