Downtown construction just about complete

All downtown Waconia streets were open Sept. 14 for Nickle Dickle Day, but the work that has been going on for most of the summer is not quite complete yet.

Stage 1 around City Square Park is open to traffic, but according to the latest project report there is still work to do on Stage 2 at Main and Elm streets behind the curb such as adding topsoil, sod, and other landscaping items. Striping is scheduled for the end of this week and it is currently anticipated that all streets will be fully open to traffic and parking by the end of September.

A final asphalt overlay will be placed on all newly reconstructed downtown streets in 2025.
