The Champlin Park LoGators secured a spot in the upcoming MBA state tournament with two wins over Shoreview at Noble Sports Park last week in the opening round of the MBA Section 4B playoffs.

Champlin Park took game one following a good contest, beating Shoreview 7-4.

Both Derek Heldman and Bryce Nelson scored three runs each against Shoreview to help surge the LoGators head. Jack Haring pitched three scoreless innings to help the LoGators secure the win.

The LoGators locked in a spot at state later that week, beating Shoreview 9-2 in game two to win the series on Aug. 4. Jerome Gooley put in a strong shift at the mound, pitching seven innings.

Sam Riola starred at bat, going 2-for-3 and scoring three runs.

The win marks the LoGators lasted qualification for state amid a history of success. The back-to-back Metro Minny champs were at state last year.

The 2024 MBA State Tournament is set to be hosted at Jordan, Belle Plaine, Green Isle, and Shakopee on Aug. 16-18, 23-25, and Aug. 30 to Sept. 2.
