    Falcons, Rebels, Pirates book tickets to state XC

    Armstrong, Breck, Champlin Park, Cooper, and Park Center took part in their respectively section cross country championships last week, with multiple runners qualifying for state from several schools.

    The Class AA and AAA state meets, which multiple runners qualified for, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the University of Minnesota’s Les Bolstad Golf Course.

    5AAA

    Both Champlin Park and Park Center had boys qualify for state. Zakariya Mohamed (5th), Blake Frazer (6th), and Caleb Osterberg (10th) all qualified for the Rebels with times of 16:08.66, 16:08.84, and 16:15.80. Blake Beaver qualified for Park Center with an 11th place finish and time of 16:20.53.

    Champlin Park senior Will Maher took 14th place, while Logan Martinez, Lucas Vetter, and Ben Matzke took 36th, 37th, and 39th.

    Park Center sophomore Jackson Browers took 32nd for Park Center, while David Krolnik took 42nd. Finn Kinart, Grant Jermstad, Avery Phillips, and Tyler Leebens took 49th, 53rd, 55th, and 56th place respectively. Park Center boys completed their best overall section finish in 18 years, taking sixth place with a score of 187.

    Senior runner Abigail Hibbs qualified for state for the Champlin Park girls with a second place finish and a time of 18:42.66, continuing her accomplished career with the Rebels.

    Several other runners impressed despite falling below the qualifying line. Brigid Keran and Sophia Grossman took 22nd and 25th place with times of 20:34.27 and 20:50.38. Nora Rajkowski and Annie Zabel took 38th and 39th, while Azalya McNeely and Courtney Gluth took 44th and 47th.

    6AAA

    Armstrong girls shined with a state qualifying spot for freshman Naomi Dybvig, who took 12th place with a time of 19:20.0.

    The team took sixth place overall. Violet Suchy earned 38th place with a time of 22:35.5, while Adelaide Senne earned 41st wit a time of 22:42.0. Erin Wilkinson, Shiloh Woyke, and Anna Wilkinson took 43rd, 45th, and 46th.

    The boys finished sixth in the standings with a score of 146, led by 21st and 23rd place finishes for seniors Gabriel Wiegert and Sam Majewski respectively, with times of 16:51.4 and 16:53.4.

    Josh Sweeney earned 32nd place with a time of 17:17.4. Griffin Schmidt took 34th with a time of 17:25.4, while Zachary Hrobak earnd 36th with a time of 17:31.0. Benaiah Breker and Tyler Knutson completed exciting sophmore seasons in 42nd and 46th.

    6AA

    Cooper’s top boys finisher in the Section 6AA championships was Zane Halstead, who took 62nd with a time of 19:44.5. Malik Williams took 65th with a time of 19:59.5. Calen Cummings, Raiden Southwell, and Andrew Brooks took places 74 through 76.

    Breck’s top two boys finishers were Mac West and Graham Bailey in 25th and 27th place with times of 17:36.9 and 17:41.5 respectively.

    Esme Gulbransen completed an impressive first place finish for Breck in the girls event to qualify for state with a time of 18:56.6. Two girls competed for the Hawks in the meet, with Stella Fesenmaier and Bris Velazquez taking 61st and 66th place respectively.
