Man arrested in Golden Valley for murder
A man arrested during a Golden Valley traffic stop is awaiting murder charges. A woman was fatally shot in the head Dec. 17 in the Linden Hills neighborhood in Minneapolis. She was later identified as 43-year-old Kesha Moore by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner. One day after the death, a 50-year-old man who the Minneapolis Police Department describe as Moore’s “live-in domestic male partner,” was tracked to Maple Grove. Later that night, the Minneapolis police initiated a felony traffic stop of the man in Golden Valley. The suspect was booked into Hennepin County Jail for probable cause murder. The Sun Post will not identify the suspect by name, as the man has not yet been charged.
Golden Valley accepts 6.55% tax levy increase
Golden Valley City Council approved the city’s budget for 2024 along with a property tax levy during its Dec. 5 meeting. The total levy came to $33,122,077, which is a 6.55% increase from 2023. Robbinsdale accepts 6% tax levy increase
The Robbinsdale City Council approved a 6% levy increase to the city’s portion of property taxes for 2024, which is lower than what was proposed earlier this year. Organics recycling going on all Robbinsdale utility bills
In Robbinsdale, organics collection has been optional. Residents could opt in to have their compostable table scraps picked up for a cost. No wrongdoing found in Khalil Azad’s death
After an investigation into the death of Khalil Azad, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Investigation sent its findings to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office for review. Cougar killed on highway near Golden Valley
Early in the morning of Dec. 6, a 53-year-old man struck a cougar while traveling on Interstate 394 in Golden Valley. The man is uninjured, but the cougar died. The Department of Natural Resources is transporting the animal to DNR Wildlife Research in Grand Rapids, where it will undergo a necropsy. The cougar was marked and Nebraska Game & Fish said it was a wild cougar tagged in northwest Nebraska. The cougar was a male and 2.3 years old.
