Cougar killed on highway near Golden Valley
Early in the morning of Dec. 6, a 53-year-old man struck a cougar while traveling on Interstate 394 in Golden Valley. The man is uninjured, but the cougar died. The Department of Natural Resources is transporting the animal to DNR Wildlife Research in Grand Rapids, where it will undergo a necropsy. The cougar was marked and Nebraska Game & Fish said it was a wild cougar tagged in northwest Nebraska. The cougar was a male and 2.3 years old.

Top talents from across the members of the Minnesota State High School League gathered at US Bank Stadium last week to take part in the 50th annual Minnesota High School Football All-Star Game on Dec. 2. Local schools were represented at the games as Robbinsdale Armstrong’s Langden College and Champlin Park’s Matthew Heinen both played on the North team. The North was also led by Armstrong head coach Jack Negen. The three eventually helped the North team to a 48-14 win over the South team through a major comeback after trailing 14-12 at halftime.
