    City of Sun Prairie hires Assistant City Attorney

    The City of Sun Prairie announced Rose Simon-Silva as the community's new Assistant City Attorney in a press release on Monday, March 18.

    Before joining Sun Prairie, Simon-Silva most recently served as the Assistant Village Attorney/Human Resources Director for the Village of Menomonee Falls. From 2018-2021, she served as City Attorney for the City of Watertown.

    Simon-Silva has experience assisting municipalities with matters involving risk management, employment law, collective bargaining agreements and implementing HR software programs, among other areas.

    According to city's release, Simon-Silva will undertake a range of responsibilities:

    Ordinance violation prosecution in municipal and circuit courtAssistance for inspectors in addressing code violations and nuisance propertiesGuidance for public safety partners in police and inspection departmentsContributions to the city's zoning code revampAnd more

    Simon-Silva earned her Juris Doctor from Marquette University Law School in 2011. Prior to that, she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with minors in Spanish and Communication through Cardinal Stritch University in 2008.

    Outside of her professional endeavors, Simon-Silva said that she enjoys gardening, coaching her sons’ sports teams, reading and learning to cook. She values spending quality time with her children.

    According to the release, Simon-Silva has already begun working within the city by familiarizing herself with the needs of different departments and divisions.

    “I am thrilled to join in an organization that is deeply committed to enhancing the lives of its community members,” said Simon-Silva. “I looking forward to applying my skills and experience in working with city staff and elected officials to continue making Sun Prairie the best it can be.”
