With the No. 3 seed in the Minnesota Baseball Association Section 6B playoffs, the Plymouth Hitdawgs lost its first game in a best-of-three series against the Minnetonka Monarchs (fourth seed) last week.

The Hitdawgs traveled to Veteran’s Field for game one, falling 11-1 to the Monarchs. The loss came despite some good performances for Plymouth, which had eight hits against Minnetonka. Tom Lyman and Ryan Masui had two each. The Hitdawgs sole run came in the top of the third after Minnetonka already led 3-0, scored by Caleb Meyers on a RBI single from Daniel Marxen.

The two teams met again on Aug. 4, this time taking part in an 11-inning battle to a 3-3 tie that had to be paused late Sunday night due to lighting issues. The remainder of the game is scheduled to finish on Aug. 6. If game three is necessary, it will be played following the result of game two.

The 2024 MBA State Tournament is set to be hosted at Jordan, Belle Plaine, Green Isle, and Shakopee on Aug. 16-18, 23-25, and Aug. 30 to Sept. 2.
