    Park’s Lindeman runs to state CC spot

    St. Louis Park High School senior Eleanor Lindeman qualified for the state cross country meet after guiding the Orioles with a 16th-place finish in the tough Section 6AAA meet Oct. 23 at Gale Woods Farms in Minnetrista.

    Lindeman covered the 5,000 meter course in 19 minutes, 33.2 seconds, one week after posting a personal best time of 19:21.7 to place fourth at the Metro West Conference Championships at Hyland Greens Golf Course in Bloomington.

    Park finished fifth at sections with 147 points, 32 points clear of sixth-place Robbinsdale Armstrong. Wayzata won the title with 22 points while Minneapolis Southwest was runner-up with 63 points.

    Scoring for Park after Lindeman was classmate Anna Healey who finished 28th in 20:33.1, freshman Finlay Beam was 32nd in 20:56.7 and freshman Adeline Stewart was 34th in 21:41.3. Junior Kaylee Crump was 37th, senior Ellie Minnick was 42nd and Tess Carpenter was 44th. Wayzata juniors Maddie Gulickson beat out Lila Golomb for the section title in 17:56.7 to 18:03.2.

    In the boys race, Edina edged out Wayzata 45-51 for the team title while Park was seventh with 149 points, three points behind Armstrong.

    Edina senior Jace Haerter beat out Wayzata senior Alex Haag for the title in 15:46.8 to 15:54.7.

    For Park, senior Paxon Myers led the team finishing 20th in 16:51.2, junior Jacob Skelly was 22nd in 16:52.3, sophomore Joe Minnick was 28th in 17:10.7 to give the Orioles three finishers in 19 seconds. Sophomore Tyber Augustus was 35th in 17:29.6 and senior Lucas Tangelson was 44th in 18:08.3 to complete the team scoring. Senior Thomas Halverson was 45th and sophomore Cesar Wood was 47th.

    Benilde-St. Margaret’s

    BSM ran in the Section 6AA meet also at Gale Woods Farm on Oct. 24 with the boys finishing sixth with 145 points and girls’ were eighth with 170 points.

    The boys were led by senior Sebastian Cerda who placed eighth to qualify for state in 16:54.6. Junior Jack Foley was 22nd in 17:30.7, sophomore Toby McLean was 32nd in 18:04.5, senior Mason Rokala was 35th in 18:17.5 and senior Dylan Casey was 48th in 18:48.5 to complete the team scoring.

    The Red Knights girls were led by freshman Clare Hamill who placed 16th overall in 20:47.8, sophomore Lucy Johnson was 19th in 21:00.9, junior Charlotte Feller was 37th in 22:20.9, freshman Pali Mielke was 42nd in 22:40 and senior Talia Loes was 56th in 23:58.9.
