The first-place team consisted of seventh-grader Kate Rivers, junior Karly Trewin and ninth-graders Lily Wilkinson and Madi Parent. The third-place team had sophomores Hailey Gross and Taylor Hintz plus juniors Ana Clemon and Julia King.

Sophomore Gracie Weishaar dominated in the 200 freestyle, coming in first place almost nine seconds before Madeline Noble of Burnsville.

South swept the first three places in the 200 individual medley, with Wilkinson just out-touching teammate Clemon for first, while Parent was third.

Hintz got to the wall before Burnsville’s Liv Vatafu by two-tenths of a second to take first in the 50 freestyle. Senior Quinn Weaver won the diving event for South.

Wilkinson got her second first-place finish of the night in the 100 butterfly, with South seventh-grader Ari Zak third.

South sophomore Kaylee Krohn, junior Gina Schonthaler and senior Hannah Butler finished second, third and fourth in the 100 freestyle behind Vatafu, who came in first place for Burnsville.

Parent and Weishaar scored first- and second-place points for South in the 500 freestyle. Both turned around to immediately help South take first and third in the

200 freestyle relay and clinch the team victory. The first place team was Karly Trewin, Clemon, Wilkinson and Parent; in third were King, Butler, Krohn and Weishaar.

All three Cougars who swam the 100-yard backstroke got season-best times: Clemon, Gross and Rivers. More season-bests went to Hintz and Karly Trewin in the 100 breaststroke.

The Lakeville South junior varsity also won its meet against Burnsville. Lakeville North

Lakeville North is 2-3 in the South Suburban after defeating Farmington on September 26 at the Panthers’ home pool, the Blanchard Aquatic Center at Century Middle School.

The fastest relay teams from both schools battled it out in the 200-yard medley relay but North ultimately got to the wall first, with a team of junior Payton Hultgren, sophomore Justine Anderson, junior Whitney Szorcsik and senior captain Addie Marsolek.
