    The Falls Active Adult Center, 2813 Sullivan’s Trail, Exeter Township, released its August calendar as follows.

    Daily Activities

    Cards, Games and Puzzles

    Weekly Activities

    Mondays: Craft Club, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

    Tuesdays: Men’s Coffee Club, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

    Wednesdays: Shuffleboard, 10:30 a.m.to 11:30 a.m.

    Wednesdays: Crocheting and Knitting group (beginners welcome) 10:30 to 11:30.

    Thursdays: Walking group 10:30 a.m.-11:15 a.m.

    Garden Club meetings every other Thurs. at 12:30 p.m.

    Monday, Aug. 5

    • 10:30 a.m.: The book club will discuss “Jackie: Public, Private, Secret” by Randy Taraborrelli.

    Thursday, Aug. 8

    • 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.: Picnic at the center.

    • 12:15 p.m. Lunch & Learn — reminiscing and trivia with Amy Bohm, Tunkhannock Public Library Librarian.

    Monday, Aug. 12

    • 10:45 to 11:45 a.m.: Rachael Wydra, RN, BSN, from PA. D.O.H. will do a wellbeing chat followed by a Lunch & Learn at 12:15 p.m. where she talks about addiction trends.

    Friday, Aug. 16

    August birthday celebration.

    Wednesday, Aug. 21

    • 10:45 to 11:45 a.m.: Melissa Wright from the Penn State Extension will hold a class on invasive plants and insects.

    Monday, Aug. 26

    • 10 a.m. to noon: Diane Stizza will lead a watercolor class.

    • 12:15 p.m.: Lunch & Learn Lois Elick RN, BSN from the PA. D.O.H. will talk about safety in the sun and types of skin cancer.

    Thursday Aug. 29

    • There will be ice cream sundaes at lunch.

    Birthdays

    August Birthdays are: Violet Treat, Al Nole, Gene Smith, Robert Smith, Barbara Condit, Martha Brunges, Mary Cruikshank.

    Collection for veterans

    The center is collecting small items to meet the needs of our local veterans through the Department of Veterans Affairs Wilkes-Barre Medical Center in Plains Township. Personal care items, activity books, individually wrapped cookies and crackers are a few examples. One of the center’s members will take any items collected to the VA.

    Meals

    Anyone wishing to join the center for a meal at noon for a suggested donation of $2 for those 60 and over should RSVP to Twila by 12:30 p.m. the day before.

    Hours

    The center is open from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is located on State Route 92 in Falls, Exeter Township.
