    CROSS COUNTRY: Boettger, Dessoye win, lead Pittston Area teams to sweeps

    Caden Boettger and Bella Dessoye finished first individually Wednesday while leading the Pittston Area cross country teams to sweeps of their four competitions each in a Wyoming Valley Conference cluster meet hosted by Wyoming Valley West.

    The two Pittston Area teams won comfortably over Hanover Area, Nanticoke, Holy Redeemer and Wyoming Seminary in the eight-team meet.

    Boettger and teammates Jake Mead finished first and second. Boettger won by 44 seconds, finishing the 3.1-mile course in 16:57.

    Wyoming Area’s Colby Walsh was third out of 50 boys runners.

    The Warriors went 2-2 with wins over Hanover Area and Nanticoke.

    Dessoye won the girls race in 19:13.

    Pittston Area’s Olivea Scalese was third and Wyoming Area’s Hannah Stoss was fourth out of 41 girls finishers.

    Wyoming Area went 1-3, beating Nanticoke.

    The Pittston Area boys placed Cash Radle, Geno Canfield and Jaylen Moore in eighth, ninth and 10th.

    Wyoming Area’s Kierstyn Orandini was the eighth girl to finish.

    Addison Ramirez led a group of four Pittston Area girls who finished between 10th and 14th.

    The Pittston Area girls are 12-1 while Wyoming Area is 7-6.

    The Pittston Area boys are 11-2 while Wyoming Area is 4-9.
