SLIDESHOW: Alexandria’s 275th Birthday
The City of Alexandria celebrated its 275th birthday – or anniversary of its founding – on July 13 by hosting an event on the waterfront with fireworks, cupcakes and guest speakers. The city was founded in 1749 by Scottish merchants and that heritage is often celebrated throughout the year. City and state leaders alike joined in the festivities by passing out cupcakes to attendees. The night was capped off by a firework show on the Potomac River.
Paul O'Neal Killed In Motorcycle Crash In Calvert County
Paul O'Neal, 36, was killed on July 14 after crashing into the back of a Dodge 3500 pick-up on Maryland Route 4 in Lusby near the intersection of Nursery Road. Man arrested in connection with non-contact shooting on Bay Bridge
An Anne Arundel County man was arrested Wednesday for a non-contact shooting that occurred on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in June. Melvin Clark, 41, of Severn was identified as a suspect in the incident and taken into custody.
