Suds Against Suicide, Fundraiser in Yakima on September 14th
It is one of the most painful ways to lose a loved one. When someone about whom you care takes their own life, the emotional trauma can seem impossible to navigate. But you are not alone. Suds Against Suicide proves that point. Anyone impacted by suicide is welcome. The event takes place in Yakima on Saturday, September 14th. The purpose is to raise funds for the Washington State Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and also promote a sense of community. Among other things, the event includes the tapping of a special beer for the cause, brewed by Iron Horse Brewery. See the press release below for all the details.
American Red Cross still in National Blood Emergency
Yakima, Wash. — The American Red Cross is continuing to experience a national blood emergency. Remnants of Hurricane Debby and other weather across the country are complicating efforts to rebuild the nation’s blood supply. Those in unaffected areas are urged to make an appointment to donate blood now. Weather in recent weeks has added to the summer shortfall in donations by forcing the cancellation of nearly 60 blood drives throughout the country, many of which were caused by Hurricane Debby, causing approximately 1,500 lifesaving blood products to go uncollected.
