    Creek Fire in Sunol has burned 744 acres and is 45 percent contained

    ( KRON ) — The Creek Fire, which broke out in eastern Alameda County late Friday afternoon, has burned 744 acres and is 35 percent contained as of Monday morning, according to Cal Fire.

    As of 8:30 p.m. on Monday, the fire is now 45 percent contained and has burned 744 acres. The evacuation order has been downgraded to an evacuation warning.

    Cal Fire said firefighters are making good progress on the blaze, which is burning near Welch Creek Road and Calaveras Road.

    Park Fire draws comparisons to 2018 Camp Fire

    Elsewhere, the Point Fire, which broke out between Concord and Bay Point on Friday , has burned 471 acres and is 92 percent contained as of Monday. Evacuation orders for the Point Fire were downgraded and all residents have since repopulated.

    Mop up and patrol operations on the Point Fire, which is centered near Evora Road and Nichols Road, are ongoing, according to Cal Fire officials.

    Further to the north, the Park Fire burning near Chico, has become the sixth-largest wildfire in California history, according to Cal Fire.
