Florida's New Professional Bull Riding Team Arrives In Sunrise

Professional bull riding has come to Florida and you can see it live this weekend!

The Florida Freedom competes for the first time at their new home, Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise.

The Freedom relocated from Oklahoma City, where the team played its first two seasons. They are now the state’s only professional bull riding team, competing in the groundbreaking PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Teams league.

Formed in 2022, PBR Teams transforms bull riding from an individual sport into one where riders compete in teams.

Thus far in 2024, the Freedom have gone 1-3, earning a crucial win at the season-launch event when they knocked off the 2022 PBR Teams Champion Nashville Stampede by a one ride score.

This weekend, the team will ride in Florida for the first time as they welcome the league’s other nine teams to the home of the 2024 Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers for Freedom Days on Aug. 2-4.

Before the action for Freedom Days begins, the Florida Freedom and City of Sunrise will gather to formally welcome the team to their new South Florida home on Friday. During the event, the City of Sunrise Commission will issue a formal proclamation naming August 2nd as Florida Freedom Day, while a special Florida Panthers collab jersey that will be donned by the Freedom during the event will be unveiled.
