Pool season is in session, so if you need a sign it’s time to gather all your summer-friendly essentials, this is it. Swimsuit ? Check. SPF? Check. Pool accessories? Honestly, not quite. Since nobody wants to spend their entire time outside frantically treading water, pool floats and noodles are a summertime necessity. That said, finding one that matches your aesthetic can sometimes feel easier said than done.

Pools are a place to have fun in a yard, but also they can set a vibe for your space and your party or hang out,” says Leigh Jendrusina of SALTHOUSE Collective , an interior design firm based in Carlsbad, California. “I love adding a pool float to a pool: It gives your space some character and sets the tone.”

    NC Large Swim Ring

Take a less-is-more approach with your pool accessories with these simple, striped rings that have Emily Henderson’s seal of approval. “If I’m honest, I originally picked these pool floaties because I thought they were so cute and looked great with the rest of the pool decor,” the Oregon designer and author says. “But they turned out to be great and the kids love them. It was a win for everyone.” Bonus points? At $25 each, these rings are pretty affordable, too.

Big Joe Noodle Sling Pool Float

Admittedly, getting comfortable in a pool float can be easier said than done. One false move and you’ll wind up face first in your pool. If you want to make kicking back and relaxing easier, reach for Big Joe’s sling float, which is basically a pool noodle and seat rolled into one. “[It’s] perfect for a super hot day because you’re more submerged,” says Jendrusina.

Intex Giant Inflatable Flamingo Pool Float

Speaking of flamingo floats, Valerie Saunders of Sérendipité Designs loves this option from Intex. “We love to leave a fun, unexpected float or raft in the pool once we leave an install,” the Southern California designer shares. “It is a playful opportunity to add a pop of color and personality, not to mention that it is a nice invitation to jump in.” Not only is this float in a classic shade of bubblegum pink—conjuring up some major Slim Aarons vibes—but this option is also a whopping 80 inches so you can splash around with a crowd!

    Tupelo Goods Line Lounge Chair

While we love pool floats and accessories as much as the next splash-seeker, it’s easy for these add-ons to feel like an afterthought. If you want your outdoor essentials to feel like an intentional part of your overall decor, reach for this lounger from Tupelo Goods , which is built to go in the shallow end of your pool.

At $795, this chair is a splurge, but Angela Rennie says it’s so worth it. “I love the Tupelo In-Pool Chairs because they are really comfortable, ergonomic and versatile chairs that you can set in your pool or poolside,” explains the Washington-based designer. “They are designed as super cool, modern sculptural forms, available in neutrals and bright colors to coordinate with your poolside décor.”
