There’s a reason to feel sad at the Happiest Place on Earth: Disneyland is discontinuing the Red Car Trolley that opened in 2012. Located in the Disney California Adventure Park, these trolleys are inspired by the Pacific Electric Railway trolleys that operated in Los Angeles from 1887 to 1961.

However, there’s good news for Marvel fans: Disney is removing the backstage Red Car Trolley barn to make way for an even bigger Avengers Campus, and construction is set for early 2025. This news was first shared by Nexstar reporter Scott Gustin.

Until the trolley takes its final ride, visitors can hop aboard at one of four stops in California Adventure: near the main entrance to the park, across from the Carthay Circle Restaurant, near the Disney Animation Building, and right by the Hyperion Theater.

Avenger Campus is known for several existing attractions, including the Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT and WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure. But there’s more to come, and Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro recently announced the addition of two new rides to the campus —Stark Flight Lab and Avengers Infinity Defense—which will double its size.

These are only a few of the many changes happening at Disneyland and California Adventure in the coming months and years. D’Amaro also talked about plans to open Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (à la The Princess and the Frog ) later this fall, the first-ever Coco -themed ride will begin construction in 2026, and there’s some sort of “Avatar experience” coming soon, too.

Curious about how long you have to ride the trolleys? The official closure date will be announced this winter , according to ABC7.
