Irish actor Barry Keoghan’s latest drama film Bird is earning positive responses since its premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. With the movie also slated to screen at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival, he can often be found speaking to the media. Inevitably, his foray into the superhero has come up, and Barry Keoghan has expressed his desire to be in a Spider-Man movie.

Barry Keoghan & Nykiya Adams want to be in an MCU Spider-Man movie

In a joint interview, Keoghan and his Bird co-star, Nykiya Adams, stated that they wanted to be in an MCU Spider-Man movie. However, Keoghan’s part of this interaction seems to be lighthearted.

While speaking to Variety Studios , Adams was asked if she had “something lined up already” or “just fighting them all off at this point.” In response, she said, “No, I’d love to do more movies.” This prompted Keoghan to jokingly ask if Adams hadn’t said that Marvel was in touch. Laughing, she replied, “No, not Marvel. I just recently got an agency. So, if any jobs come, then I’ll just do it.”

When Variety questioned Adams further on the matter, she explained that she loved Spider-Man. “I’d love to be something there. I’d love to do that oldest beast,” she added. This prompted Keoghan to suggest, “We could do it together.”

The conversation then inevitably shifted toward DC Studios and Keoghan’s potential return as the Joker. “There we go!,” he said and covered his mouth, before making it clear that he couldn’t say much on the subject. “I can’t say much. The camera is looking right at me. We’ll see where that goes. Again, it was an incredible experience … and yeah, I can’t say,” he added.

Keoghan originally played the Joker in Matt Reeves’ 2022 movie The Batman, though he was credited as “Unseen Arkham Prisoner.” A sequel is currently in development and is slated to release on October 2, 2026.
