Don Cheadle made his MCU debut alongside Robert Downey Jr. in Iron Man 2. While he has had a great run since then, his last MCU appearance in Secret Invasion raised a few eyebrows. But many are still looking forward to its aftermath. Fortunately, the James Rhodes actor recently addressed whether he’d be back for future MCU projects, such as Avengers: Secret Wars . He also shared his reaction to Robert Downey Jr.’s return as Marvel’s next big bad, Doctor Doom .

Don Cheadle was shocked to see Robert Downey Jr.’s Marvel return

Don Cheadle’s reaction to Robert Downey Jr.’s MCU comeback was akin to many Marvel fans attending San Diego Comic-Con this year. Like Gwyneth Paltrow and many other MCU actors, he was also surprised to see the former Iron Man be brought back as Victor Von Doom.

Speaking with Collider’s Steve Weintraub while promoting his next film, Unstoppable, Cheadle said, “I was like, ‘What the f*ck?’,” when asked about his response to Downey’s return.

Besides that, and recently playing dumb about the status of MCU’s Armor Wars, Cheadle made a comment on his potential return in The Multiverse Saga’s final movie, Avengers: Secret Wars.

As Weintraub tried to extract a comment about Secret Wars, Don Cheadle jokingly dodged and turned down the question saying:

“I’m not sure what you’re talking about. I’ve heard of a Russo Brother. There are two. You know I can’t talk about that stuff.”

When Weintraub brought the question of Secret Wars back, Cheadle continued his playful banter stating “the red dot” is constantly pointed at him, as he referred to the secrecy that every Marvel actor has to maintain to be safe from fictional snipers.

Lastly, Steve Weintraub talked about The Russo Brothers’ schedules and them being busy with Citadel Season 2. To this, Cheadle replied, “You know more than I know. You’re giving me information.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Don Cheadle also added:

“They’re rewriting, they’re reworking, and so I honestly can’t even tease anything.”

Avengers: Secret Wars is set to hit theatres on May 7, 2027.
