The script for Constantine 2 is finished.

While a sequel to 2005’s Constantine has been discussed for many years, the project officially got off the ground in 2022 when it was reported that Warner Bros. was finally moving forward on the project. Keanu Reeves is expected to reprise his role as John Constantine, while Francis Lawrence is returning as director.

Now, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura says that he has a finished version of the script for Constantine 2 sitting in his inbox; however, he hasn’t read it yet.

Di Bonaventura told ComicBook , “You know it’s in my inbox right now. Funny enough, I’m too scared to read it, though. I want it to be good so bad. I probably read it in the next few days. When I get on an airplane.”

What else do we know about Constantine 2?

Plot details for Constantine 2 remain under wraps at this time.

It’s not immediately clear if the sequel will be set in the same continuity as James Gunn and Peter Safran’s forthcoming DCU . Gunn has previously said that the official DCU canon doesn’t start until Creature Commandos, which would suggest that Constantine and Constantine 2 might take place within a separate universe similar to how Matt Reeves’ Batman movies are. If Reeves’ Constantine does become canon to the DCU, however, it would mean that Reeves could continue to reprise the role in additional projects.

The first Constantine movie was released in February 2005. Along with Reeves, it starred Rachel Weisz as Angela Dodson, Shia LaBeouf as Chas Kramer, Tilda Swinton as Gabriel, Pruitt Taylor Vince as Father Hennessy, Djimon Hounsou as Papa Midnite, Gavin Rossdale as Balthazar, and Peter Stormare as Lucifer.

The movie made approximately $230.9 million at the global box office office an estimated $70-$100 million budget.

A release date for Constantine 2 has not yet been announced. The 2005 Constantine movie is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
